| DDC asks bankers to be active partners in socio-economic betterment | | | JAMMU, NOV 29 An amount of Rs.442.38 crore was disbursed as credit during 2005-06 against Rs.331.29 crore during the previous year by the financial institutions thereby registering an increase of Rs.11.09 crore on credit. This was revealed during District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner Jammu Mr Hirdesh Kumar Singh. It was given out in the meeting that in agriculture sector an increase of Rs.1.02 core during the year 2005-06 was registered against 2004-05. In industrial sector overall achievement registered were 139 percent, 196 percent and 308 percent respectively during year 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06. And the total deployment of credits during their years was Rs.86 crore, Rs.134.12 core and Rs.218.88 crore respectively. In trade and services out of total plan outlay of Rs.101.28 crore, Rs.111.65 crore and Rs.122.80 crore for the years 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06 respectively, the financial institutions were able to achieve their targets to the tune of Rs.138.55, Rs.165.57 crore and Rs.187.18 crore respectively. With regards to district credit plan 2006-07 the total credit outlay for the year in respect of all financial institutions amounts to Rs.4499712 thousands envisaging assistance to 45321 persons against of Rs.2435182 thousands involving 41960 persons during the previous year. The DDC stressed the bankers to continue with the tempo of development and growth they are maintaining in extending various financial services to people. He said in the present daytime banks and other financial institutions have a pivotal role to play in making society prosperous.
