PDP holds Panchayat conference | 2 political resolutions passed | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, July 30 (KNS): In a one day Panchayat conference here at TRC Ground, Peoples Democratic Party, Saturday passed two resolutions on Kashmir. One political resolution was passed by PDP patron and former chief minister Mufti Sayed and another by senior PDP leader and former Deputy CM, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh with unanimous consensus. The resolution passed by Beig advocated for a permanent and lasting solution to the problem of Jammu & Kashmir. The resolution also demanded revocation of draconian laws and condemned the use of force against peaceful youth, their imprisonment and continued confinement of political leaders. It called for scrapping of all FIR’s and demanded the action against the perpetrators of crime. “Hundreds of people are languishing in jails. FIRs have been lodged against thousands of youth whose career is jeopardized for they can never get a job because of this stigma. The killers of scores of innocent young boys are roaming free. None of them has been punished,” the resolution says. Addressing the convention, PDP Patron Mufti, Syed also passed a resolution on empowerment of Panchayats on a unanimous consensus. He said that the resolution of Kashmir was not possible through the presence of military in the state. “The problem can not be solved militarily. We have to find a lasting resolution on Kashmir,” Mufti said. The resolution welcomed the progress in dialogue between India and Pakistan and measures announced in the recent conference of foreign ministers. Among others who spoke on the occasion were senior leader Molvi Iftkhar Hussain Ansari, Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Basharat Bukhari, Ved Mahajan. Dr Sameer Koul and Peerzada Mansoor Hussain.
