The details of weather forecast are available on the website of the Indian Meteorological Department, at (www.amssdelhi.gov.in). Singh also urged all intending pilgrims to have themselves medically examined. “The Amarnath Yatra is very arduous and physically challenging Yatra. Yatris have to trek through areas which are as high as 14,000 feet under inhospitable conditions. In such places, the atmospheric air is under low pressure and people suffer due to the effect of Hypoxia (low oxygen). In rarefied atmospheric conditions, a Yatri may develop pulmonary edema, cerebral edema or acute mountain sickness. Individuals who suffer from any coronary artery disease, bronchial asthma, hypertension or diabetes may collapse. Such persons must not undertake the Yatra”, he added. The Additional CEO said that the Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine is progressing satisfactorily on both the Baltal and Chandanwari routes since today morning.
