| Despite growing resentment , govt turns deaf ear to resolve CU-J impasse | | |

JAMMU, July 30:
It seems all out efforts made by the state government to diffuse the momentum built in support of the issue of setting up of central university Jammu and announcement of its vice chancellor has fallen on deaf ears.
After welcoming the state government's reaction to the ongoing campaign that centre would soon appoint interim vice chancellor to kick start the process on ground zero various organizations have come out in full support to join the movement and put further pressure on the state government to expedite the matters.
The new entrants Jammu bar association, Panun Kashmir saturday joined the campaign and voiced their concern in support of central university Jammu. On the other hand sustained campaign by BJP, Panthers party, various student groups and Jammu Peoples forum have created a piquant situation for the state government who despite leaking selective information about the consensus emerging in support of the former bureaucrat is still weighing its options before making his name public.
In the meanwhile, most of the saturday passed by with various protest demonstrations and protest marches and sit in dharnas being attended by leaders of the various groups.
One by one senior representatives of the Jammu Peoples forum lashed out at the non committal attitude of the state government and the centre govt over undue delay. Beyond issuing statements the leadership has not done anything concrete. Anger is simmering in Jammu and it is high time the state government should take note of it, the speakers gathering the addressing during the hunger strike at Purani Mandi said here on Saturday.
To register protest against intentional delay in setting up of the Central University in Jammu, BJP activists of Jammu Distt. Under distt. President Rajesh Gupta also held a massive demonstration at Kachi Chawni Chowk, Jammu. They were carrying party flags and raising slogans against the UPA and the State government.
Rajesh Gupta while speaking on the occasion, said that the BJP has always taken a stand against regional discrimination and the party is concerned over the intentional delay in the starting of first session of Central University when the similar University in Kashmir is about to start its 3rd session. He said the BJP will fight tooth and nail against this injustice with the youth of Jammu. He said the Congress leaders of Jammu are playing a double game by being with the government and still complaining of delay in setting up of Central University. If the Congress leaders are sincere towards Jammu, they should shed the Kursi Prem and come on roads with the people of Jammu, he added.
Rajsh Gupta said that the Jammu province has always been discriminated in all matters and at all levels. Step-motherly treatment with the Jammu by the Kashmir-centric leadership has always forced the people to come on roads. He declared that the party will further intensify its campaign in case the Central University is not setup in Jammu at the earliest.
Jammu Province People’s Forum relay hunger strike entered 6th day . Today the forum members of Panun Kashmir, Dr Agni Shekher Chairman (Panun Kashmir), Shiban Krishan Khebri, Sanjay Dattatray, Omkar Nath Bhatt and Ram Krishan Koul sat on strike.
Apart from the above association/sabha hundreds of people thronged the hunger strike premises in support of the fasting leaders anguish and anxiety caused due to deliberate delay by the Kashmir, Centre State Government and HRD Ministry Government of India in appointing Vice Chancellor and functioning of sanctioned university.
While addressing the gathering Pavittar Singh Bhardwaj, Chairman JPPF made a fervent appeal to Jammuites to unite and exhibit their strength in the demonstrations being made for early functioning of Central University at Jammu. The Chairman warned the HRD Ministry Government of India to end the criminal conspiracy adopted to unnecessary in appointing Vice Chancellor Jammu Centre University.
Next batch will sit on hunger strike on July 31 will comprise of the members of movement headed by Ram Pal Shastri President, Makhan Lal Vice-President (Udhampur).
The J&K Samajwadi Party, in a press release issued here has strongly reseated the inordinate delay in establishing central University in Jammu and urged upon the Government to see the writings on the wall as early as possible before it is too late. The SP warns the central Government of dire consequences in case the situation gets an ugly turn.. What else they can do for Jammu, the release questioned?
Even in the agitation launched by National Panther Students Union (NPSU) for CUJ entered 31th day and 6th day of Hunger strike by the activists of YP and NP.
In GGM Science College , Jammu students gathered at main gate and held a strong protest demonstration against HRD ministry. The protest was led by Thakur Shiv Dev Singh. Addressing the gathering Shiv Dev urged the jammuites to be united and exhibit their strength in the demonstration being made for early functioning of CUJ..
Abhay Sharma (Provincial Vice President NPSU) said that the struggle started for the opening of CUJ will not come to an end until and unless the required steps for the opening of CUJ were taken by the Govt. and VC is appointed for the said university.
Students of SPMR college of commerce, Jammu boycotted their classes and gathered at main gate.
Vickey Singh Bhau accused J&K Government as authoritarian and expressed deep concern on the attitude of the State Government denying all democratic and civil rights to the student agitating peacefully and democratically.
Students of GDC Ploura also boycotted their classes under the leadership of Rohit Verma and Rawat Manhas.
Addressing the students expressed gratitude towards the students community who have shown their solidarity to the cause lead by NPSU.
Central University Joint Action Committee (an amalgam of ten student organization and non political organization) made a strong protest in the GGM Science college and MAM PG college.
Bhanu Pratap under the banner CUJAC made a strong protest in the science college with five hundred of students and demanded the academician from the University of Jammu to be the VC of the Central University of Jammu.
Bhanu Pratap said that there are many noted academician in the University of Jammu why the govt is not interested to appoint them the VC of the JU.
He also said that Government does not want to appoint the VC from JU because youth of the Jammu will be benefited and that is against the will of the J&K Govt.
Meanwhile some outsiders led by Pushinder Singh attack the Bhanu Pratap a student leader of Science college with a sharp edge weapon and he got a serious injury report regarding this lodged in the Police Chowki canal road Jammu. Students of the MAM college under the leadership of Harsh Choudhay demanded that VC of the Central University must be a local Professor of the University of Jammu who has a vital experience of research and teaching at University level and who understand the problems of the students.
In a media briefing said that they will properly intensify the agitation in the all Jammu colleges from Monday and dare to the Government for appointing S S Billoria as a VC or administrator of the central university Jammu .

Dr Agnishekhar while addressing the gathering condemned the apathetic attitude of central as well as state government towards the Jammu region.
The Bar Association Jammu abstained from work in the court and held a massive dharna/demonstration in the High Court Complex against delays in appointing Vice-Chancellor of Central University, Jammu and its non-function despite a considerable lapse of time after the same was sanctioned by the Central Government while speaking on the occasion the Vikram Sharma, General Secretary, Bar Association expressed unstinted support and solidarity to the cause of making the Central University, Jammu functional at the earliest.
He urged the people of Jammu region in general and members of the Bar Association in particular to remain alert to the polices of suppression adopted by successive Central and State Government from time to time DS Saini former President, Bar Association Jammu appealed to the Government to wake up to the cause of Central University, Jammu before any further delay onsets a turbulence in Jammu before any further delay onsets a turbulence in Jammu before any further delay.
He expressed his anguish against the Central and State Governments who are strategically undermining the caliber of eminent educationist of Jammu region who have earned great repute both within and outside state.
He lamented that by not recognizing the sons of the soil for appointment to the posts of Vice Chancellor, Central University, and Jammu.
The entire Jammu feels immensely hurt in their sentiments. He cautioned the Governments in Central and State against the divisive politics and asserted that people of Jammu region are united against such discriminatory policies.
