Digvijay, Tejaswi, Harshdeep bag gold in shooting

JAMMU, July 30: Three promising young shooters of the state, Digvijay Singh of Army School Kaluchak, Tejaswi Singh and Harshdeep Singh of Delhi Public School (DPS) clinched gold medals in the two-day inter-school (.177 Air Rifle) shooting competition held at DPS School, here today.
While Digvijay bagged first place in boys’ category, Tejaswi Singh and Harshdeep emerged winner in sub-junior and youth categories respectively.
In the meantime, first place in girls section went to Saheen Malik of DPS while Sabreen Khan, again of DPS and Manasvini Oswal of Jodhamal Public School remained second and third respectively.
In all, around 40 boys and girls took part in this competition which held under the supervision of shooting coach, Rajesh Virdhy of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Inspector General of J&K Police, Dilbag Singh, who is also working president of Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association, was chief guest. He gave away medals and certificates to the winners of different age groups and encouraged other participants asking them to work hard.
Earlier, Principal of the host school, presented a detailed note of the event and expressed his thanks to the Association for extending all possible help in creating shooting infrastructure at the school.

`Unsigned’ certificates

To the surprise of the winners and other participants, the organizers of the competition gave away `unsigned’ certificates. However, finding the boys whispering, the certificates were taken back by the teachers of the host school for signing purposes. Out of three, president of Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA), general secretary and organizing secretary (Principal of DPS), only latter had signed the certificates.

BOYS: Digvijay Singh, AS Kaluchak, Ist and Munish Raj, St. Xavier Convent School Kathua, 2nd.
SUB-JUNIOR BOYS: Tejaswi Singh, DPS, Ist; Mayank Choudhary, DPS, 2nd and Sangram Singh, DPS, 3rd.
YOUTH BOYS: Harshdeep Singh, DPS, Ist; Munish Kumar, Government Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor, 2nd and Raghav Bakshi, MCS Pathankot, 3rd.
GIRLS: Saheen Malik, DPS, Ist; Sabreen Khan, DPS, 2nd and Manasvini Oswal, Jodhamal Public School, 3rd.
