CCI expresses anguish over delay in appointment of VC for central university | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jul 31: Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said that it is dismayed, deeply agitated and anguished over failure of the central government in appointing vice-chancellor of the proposed central university at Jammu. In a handout issued here today, Secretary General Satish Gupta recalled that it is now two years since the central government bowing to the demands of the people of Jammu announced grant of central universities to both provinces of the state. He added that while the Kashmir Central University has completed two academic years in certain disciplines started there, the University proposed for Jammu is yet to hear name of vice chancellor. He maintained that inordinate delay in appointing vice-chancellor is further confirming apprehensions of people of Jammu about the step motherly approach of govt of India. Already the student community of Jammu has joined the agitation against this injustice with the people of Jammu. He said that law abiding citizens of Jammu are lodging their protest in peaceful manner but there is likelihood that if genuine demand is not acceded to immediately this simmering fire of anger may assume alarming proportions. To save the people of Jammu from this avoidable catastrophe, Chamber demands that the central govt. without wasting further time immediately announces the vice chancellor for the central university for Jammu so that the student community can avail its benefit.
