Hunger strike of JPPF enters day 7 | CU agitation | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jul 31: Hunger strike of Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) entered day 7 at Raja Jambulochan Memorial park Purani Mandi here.
Hundreds of people thronged the hunger strike premises in support of the fasting leaders expressing anguish and anxiety over delay in appointing Vice Chancellor and functioning of sanctioned central university. They raised slogans cursing the government.
“The 15-day long strike scheduled till August 8 will continue till the Central University Jammu is not made functional by appointing a vice-chancellor,” Singh said. JPPF is an apex body of various groups and forums -- political parties, socio-cultural organisations, trade and industries associations, students and academic federations fighting for early functioning of the varsity.
“If authorities do not take practical action in the matter by appointing a competent person as Vice Chancellor of University, preferably a local one, agitation will be intensified,” Singh said. Inderjeet Khajuria, a senior member of JPPF appealed to the State Government especially Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene for immediate issuance of appointment orders of Vice Chancellor for the Jammu Central University as per his initiative on the issue of right directions.
Chairman JPPF further informed the audience about a SMS received from a famous Bollywood dignitary Anupam Kher addressed to Dr.Agnishekar chairman Panun Kashmir who congratulated him for Panun Kashmir participation in relay hunger strike of JPPF. Dr.Agnishekhar chairman Panun Kashmir appealed to Jammuites to unite and support the hunger strike of JPPF.
