| Over 8000 students participated in classmate young author, artist contest | | |
JAMMU | NOV 29 India’s biggest ever hunt for budding young writers saw an overwhelming response in Jammu more than 8000 students from 32 schools in Jammu participated in classmate young author and artist contest 2006. The special on campus classmate day were organized at presentation Convent and Cormal Convent School. The classmate young author and artist contest is being held in over 6000 schools in 34 cities across the country. The contest was open to all students from class IX to class XII. Eight winners will be selected from each school and they will complete in the city finals. Two best stories from all 19 cities will then go for assessment to the national jury head b Ruskin Board. The best 40 paintings from all over the country will feature in a traveling painting exhibition, which will be held in select metros. The winning entries from schools across Jammu will participate in second round finals on December 1st, at Tagore Auditorium, Chandigarh. According to Chand Dass, chief executive ITC greetings, gifting and stationary business young author contest is amongst the most awaited event in the school calendar. Renowned writer, Ruskin Bond heads the panel of judges for the classmate young author contest 2006. This panel will shortlist 16 stories from the 19 cities for the national finals.
