Divisional Manager Northern Railways files affidavit
Modernization of Jammu Railway Station

Jammu, July-31 (JNF):- In the affidavit filed by Divisional Manager Northern Railway J&K, Jammu it was submitted that modernization work could not be executed as per time frame because of restrictions put by civil administrations involving different agencies.
Regarding the multifunctional complex, in the affidavit it has been submitted that multifunctional complex which has been conceived by Rail Land Development Authority having modern facilities hotel stay, malls, conference area, multi-storey parking, banks/ ATMs have been put on hold by Divisional Commissioner. It has been mentioned that Divisional Manager in his affidavit there have been meeting with civil administration where rail development authority along with Chief Administrative Officer have apprised utilities of this project but no clearance has been received from Divisional Commissioner Jammu.

This affidavit has been filed by the Divisional Manager Railways as per the direction issued by State High Court in a Public Interest Litigation in which Advocate SS Lehar appeared for the PIL and seeking directions to the Railway Authorities regarding modernization of Jammu Railway Station. In compliance of this order the Divisional Manager file this affidavit in detail in which he mentioned that the number of visited at Jammu Railway Station as Passenger or otherwise during the period from April 1, 2010 to March 2011, 1.55 Crores both inward and outward. Regarding the parking place at Jammu Railway Station for use of Passengers, visitors and Railway Staff is private parking area/railway staff 3900 sq mt, Taxi/Matador/Auto Rickshaw parking area is 5100 sq mt. The convenient parking area near reservation complex for aged, physically challenged passengers have to be shifted to the main parking area on the advice of security on account of security threats. After gone through the affidavit Division Bench of the state High Court arrayed Divisional Commissioner as respondent. JNF
