| Inter-Collegiate/Departmental Debating Contest organize by JU | | |

Vinay Kumar from Dept. of Sociology clinched the trophy in the Inter- Collegiate/Departmental Debating Contest organized by the Dept. of Students Welfare, University of Jammu here today.The motion for the debate was in the opinion of the House; “Economic and Social Empowerment of Underprivileged can be made possible only through Cooperatives”. About fifteen students from University Departments and its affiliated colleges participated in the said contest and expressed their views within five minutes of time. Supriya Sharma from MC Khalsa College of Education and Tanvi Mahajan from GWC, Udhampur bagged second and third prize respt. Prof. Desh Bandhu, Jagdish Chander and B.R. Sharma were among the adjudicators.The team consisting of Supriya Sharma and Tanvi Mahajan shall represent the university in the English Debate while Vinay Kumar and Dimple Sharma shall participate in the Hindi Debating Contest in the Inter-University National Debate Competition to be held at Instt. of Cooperative Management, Hyderabad from Dec. 28-30th, 2006. Earlier, Prof N.R. Sharma, Campus Cultural Committee delivered the welcome address. Dr. Vishav Raksha, the Teacher In charge of the contest apprised the participants about the rules and regulations and supervised the contest. Among others P.S. Pathania, DSW, Dr. Shohab Inayat Malik, Asstt. DSW, Amita Malhotra, Cultural Secretary, Secretaries, etc. were also present.
