Governor inaugurates Photo Exhibition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, AUGUST 1 – . N. N. Vohra, Governor, has emphasized the need for taking all required initiatives for the rehabilitation of orphans and children in any kind of distress to enable them to grow into balanced and productive members of the society. The Governor was speaking after inaugurating a Photo Exhibition titled “Moments: A Chronicle of Childhood”, organized by the Child Nurture and Relief (CHINAR) Kashmir here last evening. The CHINAR Kashmir is working for the psychological rehabilitation of orphans and vulnerable children in Kashmir and running a CHINAR Home for a group of orphaned boys and girls in Srinagar. The photographs displayed at the Exhibition had been taken by the CHINAR children themselves during a month-long workshop organized to impart photography skills to them. The Governor went around the Photo Exhibition and lauded the visibly high potential of the young children. The Governor observed that the State has suffered immensely during the past years with huge loss of life and property and rendering a large number of women as widow and many children as orphans. While lauding the noble initiative taken by CHINAR Kashmir for psycho-social rehabilitation of such children, he hoped that there would now be sustained peace and normalcy in the State. He added that all of us need to give serious thought to the circumstances which engender situations leading to the need for taking initiatives to look after children who become orphans in such extremely unfortunate circumstances as witnessed in Kashmir in the past years. He hoped that many affluent people and organizations would come forward to give a helping hand to such children and to the laudable organizations which support such children.
