Centre adopts Pakherpora as tourist village: Rather

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 01- The Centre has agreed to adopt Pakherpora-abode of revered Sufi Saint, Hazrat Syed Mohammad Ali Aali Bulkhi (RA)- as a tourist village. It will be a centre sponsored project under which 100 percent funds for development of Pakherpora as tourist village shall be provided by the Union Ministry of Tourism.
This was announce by the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather during his tour to Pakherpora today in connection with finalizing arrangements for ensuing annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Ali Aali Bulkhi (RA) from August 14 this month.
The Minister was accompanied by the District Development Commissioner Budgam Mr. Mohammad Rafi, Chief Medical Officer, Mr. Aleem-ud-Din, Chief Executive Officer Yusmarg Development Authority (YDA) Mr. Ghalib Mohi-ud-Din, Executive Engineer PHE Mr. Rafiq Malik, Executive Engineer YDA Mohammad Shafi Bhat, and Representatives of Muslim Wakaf Board.
Mr. Rather said that Pakherpora, Yusmarg and Chari-i-Sharif are being developed as a major pilgrim tourism circuit to promote pilgrim tourism in the area. He instructed the officers of CA&PD to provide additional quota of Rice, Atta, Sugar and K.Oil to the people of Pakherpora in view of the annual Urs Sharif. He also instructed for ensuring round the clock power supply in Pakherpora during the Urs days.
The Minister also directed the Health Department to setup first aid camps at suitable locations in between Chari-i-Sharif- Pakherpora and Pulwama- Pakherpora routes during the Urs. The PDD and Tourism department has been asked to immediately take up repairs and replacement of lights installed in and around the shrine complex. The tourism department shall also dovetail with PHE department to set up about 100 temporary ablution and toilet points at Pakherpora to coup up with the rush of pilgrims. The traffic department was asked to make adequate arrangements of buses and Sumos for carrying pilgrims to and fro Pakherpora.
