RIK visits Jagti migrant camp | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Aug 1: A team of Roots in Kashmir (RIK) visited the Jagti Migrant camp today under the leadership of its convenor Vir Saraf.
The team took extensive visit of the camp and enquired the problems of the inmates of Migrant Camp. The team included \Rohit Pandit, Sunil Kaw, Sunil Pandita and R.K. Koul.
The team had an extensive interaction with the inmates of Jagti Camp.
Speaking on the occasion Vir Saraf said that Government is callous in executing the Prime Minister’s Employment package with sincerity.
Saraf demanded that the remaining 4300 posts be filled up immediately. He also demanded that the over-aged youth be given Rs. 25 lac as one time settlement so that they can set up their own business.
While addressing the gathering Saraf said that over aged youth are the worst sufferers of the displacement of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir 22 years back.
He said that un-employed over aged youth are a forgotten lot and the government needs to address their problems without further delay.
Saraf accused the government of violating the fundamental rights of the displaced people by not restoring the basic facilities like water, electricity, medi-care to the camp inmates. Even the dispensary does not have proper man power to run the equipments for the camp inmates.
This is gross violation of Human Rights by the Government.
Saraf declared that they will file a case against authorities in State Human Rights Commission if the basic facilities are not restored forthwith.
While speaking in the meeting Ajay Bhat (coordinator RIK-Jagti camp) said that the government must give soft loans to all those traders who have been allotted shops in Jagti.
He said that the traders are facing difficulty in running their establishment in absence of such facility. He demanded that Government must take immediate measures for the soft loans.
Vinod Tickoo (Co-coordinator RIK- Jagti Camp) demanded that a shopping complex of another hundred shops must come up within the camp as the present establishments are insufficient to cater the needs of the camp inmates.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were Ashok, he said that Jagti lacks the basic facilities like water and electricity. He demanded that government must ensure immediate restoration of basic necessities to the camp.
Adressing the meeting Rohit Pandita said that Roots in Kashmir is bound to raise the issues of traders, unemployed and other community related issues with the Government officials and assured the gathering that these issues will be vigorously pursued till the logical conclusion.
