Jora launches tree plantation drive, inspects golf course | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 2: A tree plantation drive was launched today at Jammu Tawi Golf Course in Sidhra by Minister for Tourism Nawang Rigzin Jora, by planting a Jamun sapling on the fairway No.1. Minister was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Pawan Kotwal who also planted a sapling followed by Director Tourism, Jammu R.S.Mehta. Director Tourism R. S. Metha apprised the Minister that the plantation of trees on the golf course has been taken upon a large scale to beautify the golf course and also to give adequate wood coverage as it is part of the golf courses. This will also add to the beauty and sylvan setting of this prestigious project of the tourism department. Minister also took stock of the progress in completion of the project. He along with the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and officers of the department took a round of the nine holes of the course and expressed his satisfaction on the work done with the maintenance and conditions of the Tees, Fairways and the Greens. Minister directed the officers that stress be laid for the completion of the back 09 holes under progress by or before March, 2012. He also desired that massive plantation of fruit and flowering trees be done to give entire golf course a arboreal and aesthetic look. He also reviewed the project of construction of Club building which after completion having international level facilities. Deputy Director Tourism (Publicity), Jammu, Deputy Director Tourism, Jammu, Deputy Director Tourism (M&W), Jammu, Asstt. Director Tourism (M&W) Jammu, Incharge Golf Course and other officials of Tourism Department were also present.
