BJP Kissan Morcha activists leave to attend rally | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 2:
Led by Kissan Morcha State President Karan Singh, about 150 activists of BJP Kissan Morcha left for New Delhi today to take part in tomorrow’ s maha rally. They were flagged off by BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, State General Secretary Sat Sharma and other leaders at Jammu railway station when they boarded Jammu Tawi Express. Later, briefing the media persons about the scheduled rally, Shamsher Singh Manhas said that the leaders of BJP Kissan Morcha have been regularly visiting different rural areas of the country with a motive to have a personal assessment of their problems and raise them at all the possible forums. The Morcha have been agitating over introduction of Seed and Land Acquisition Bills in the Parliament keeping in mind the interests of the farmers. He said while we have been advocating for bringing a Seed Bill which do not set the monopoly of international firms, at the same time we have suggested a number of amendments in the Land Acquisition Bill. He said that the Land Acquisition Bill tabled in Parliament in the year 2007 can not be termed as farmer friendly in any way. We have suggested few amendments which include preference to barren land than agriculture land for acquisition, proper rehabilitation of the farmers who get uprooted while acquiring their land, adequate compensation for the land and prior information about the land use etc. If these amendments are implemented, the farmers will obviously get some relief. In order to exert pressure for including these amendments and tabling a farmer friendly Bill, the Morcha is organising a massive rally at New Delhi for which our activists from state left in a group and they will be joining the Morcha activists drawn from different states of the country for the cause of the farmers.
