Tarigami for pragmatic, broad based interim report

SRINAGAR, Aug 2:
House Committee constituted to look into the causes of frequent road accidents in erstwhile Doda district today indicated to submit its interim report in the next assembly session.
The Committee, which met here under the Chairmanship of M Y Tarigami examined in detail the minutes of the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary at Doda regarding traffic management and measures taken to rationalize traffic system subsequently including issuances of licenses, route permits, fitness tests of older vehicles, etc.
The meeting also decided to obtain written views/suggestions of special invitees as well as its own members before compiling a concrete report based on up-to-date statistics.
It was given out in the meeting that many individuals including some experts too have submitted their suggestions and opinion on the issue, which the committee decided to examine for broad basing its findings.
The Committee is also ascertaining the exact number of public transport vehicles operating in the Chenab Valley districts with special focus on the deployment of new buses by the SRTC.
In his address, the Chairman said that the Committee will strive to formulate a broad based and pragmatic report, adding such report on implementation should bring down the graph of road mishaps considerably.
The traffic system should also witness perceptible improvement once the report is adopted and implemented on ground, he added.
Legislators, Naresh Kumar Gupta and Ashok Kumar attended the meeting, among others.
