| Higher education collaborative programmes between JU and Canadian Varsity | | | Jammu Nov 30 In pursuit of the increasing significance of Information Technology, Communication skills and with the background of already running a course in global understanding at an international level, the University of Jammu has gone ahead with the launching of a collaborative programme of Post Degree Continuous Learning (PDCL) with the Faculty of Communication and Culture, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, under the leadership of Professor Amitabh Mattoo, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu and Prof. Kathleen Scherf, Dean, Faculty of Communication and Culture, University of Calgary. An academic team from the University of Jammu, consisting of Prof. Posh Charak, Prof. Rajiv Gupta, Prof. Keshav Sharma, Prof. J.R. Dhotra and Prof. Chandra Mohan visited the University of Calgary, met with Prof. David Mitchell and Prof. Aradhana Parmar and signed the letter of intent for implementing the PDCL Programme at the University of Jammu. In sequel to the team's visit Prof. Aradhana Parmar from the Faculty of Communication and Culture, University of Calgary, Alberta, is currently visiting the University of Jammu to pursue the programme. She met Prof. Amitabh Mattoo and other officials of the University of Jammu and discussed in detail the future initiatives. The focus of the visit includes students and faculty exchange opportunities, academic collaboration and research projects. The PDCL diploma is in professional communication with possible laddering towards a Master's of Communication Studies at the University of Calgary, Canada. 24 hours Library: In order to provide better academic environment to the Students in general and the Research Scholars in particular, the University of Jammu today announced the commencement of 24 hrs Reading Room facility in the Dhanvantri Library (Central Library). Announcing this historic decision, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo said that through this facility, the Student Community will be able to sharpen their intellectual skills for ensuring their better performance in today's competitive world. |
