4 Jammu teams leave for Tickoo Memorial Tourney | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, August 03: Four teams from Jammu Province, comprised of 52 top cricketers of different age groups today left for participation in the RC Tickoo Memorial Tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar from August five. Earlier, this limited overs’ knock-out event was scheduled to begin today, but was postponed for two days due to certain reasons by the Association. “Each of these four teams included 13 cricketers from different age groups of under-15, under-19, under-22 and Ranji Trophy from Jammu Province. All the 52 cricketers were selected on the basis of their performance in the Prof Pran Nath Memorial Tournament, President’s Cup and other competitions at district level as also tournament for non-affiliated clubs held in the past,” chairman of the JKCA’s media and external relations committee, Ranjit Kalra told SAN. These teams have been led by Dhruv Mahajan, Inderjeet Singh, Guru Partap and Hardeep Singh Prince.
Bedi arrives in Valley
As announced by the JKCA, former India captain, Bishan Singh Bedi has assumed the charge of state cricket coach at Srinagar today. Now, this veteran cricketer will witness the performance of state’s young and senior cricketers taking part in the R C Tickoo Memorial Tournament. “It would be this tournament that will help the state selectors in making selections for the state teams for the zonal competitions ahead,” informed Kalra.
