| Day 7 at IFFI 2006: Sonu aala re Live | | Thousands dance to the tunes of Sonu Nigam | |
Goa, Nov 30:
A power packed day with brilliant movies and power packed music performances would be the best way to describe Day 7 at the 37th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2006). While the daylong screenings and entertainment shows kept the festival fever going on the entire day, the evening events were the highlights of Day 7.
While popular singer Sonu Nigam rocked and rolled till late in the night performing to a NIWS Ground houseful audience, the surprise package was the meeting with the super-band Boney M. The famous foursome made a brief appearance prior to their Disco Concert scheduled for November 30th. Sonu Nigam was the cynosure of all eyes on the evening of Day 7 as he performed hit after hit and also a special number "Do you Believe", an awesome English-Hindi-Punjabi trilingual song that is a part of Tanuja Chandra's Hope and Little Sugar that will be screened tomorrow.
On the movies front, the day's lineup included Poet of the Wastes (Iran), Aviva my Love (Israel), Nirontor (Bangladesh), Borat (USA), Zuzu Angel (Brazil) and Muyeong Geom (South Korea) among others. Several high profile personalities including directors Tanuja Chandra, Pankuj Parasher and actor Revathy were present at the festival. The Master Classes were undertaken by Oscar winner Stephen Woolley.
The Open Forum on Day 7 discussed Film Criticism Today with M.K. Raghavendra, Uppal Borpujari, Jyothi Venkatesh and Sibal Chatterjee. The session was moderated by Nandini Sardesai. The Launch Pad section saw a special preview of the movie 90 Mins with director Iqbaal Rizzvi.
The event schedule of the day included street animations, bands at the Croniche Street. At Children's Park, the Soon Sahiba Dhoon, the singing concert continued on the Krrish stage and the movie, Adventures of Tenali Raman was screened. The mobile screenings comprised of three hilarious movies including Lage Raho Munnabhai at Sports Ground Varca, Chup Chup ke at Sanguem Bus Stand and Khosla Ka Ghosla at Sanquelim Ground.
With Sonu Nigam enthralling Goa and Boney M promising more, IFFI 2006 is on a roll! To add to the excitement Rakesh and Hritik Roshan will join the festivities tomorrow for the screening of the super hit Krrish.
