Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 2 held

UDHAMPUR, Aug 3:


Police have foiled bid to smuggle bovines to Kashmir Valley by arresting two people from Sarar area near Chenani without permission.
According to sources, police intercepted a vehicle wherein two persons identified as Mohd Rashid son of Baggu resident of Nallah Malian and Rashid son of Mohd Din resident of Panj Garain, Tehsil Ramnagar were carrying 30 heads of bovines without valid permission.
The duo was arrested and the vehicle being used for transporting the bovines was seized.
A case FIR No.73/2011 under section 188/RPC stands registered against the accused persons at Police station Chenani.
It is pertinent to mention here that in a special drive launched by Udhampur Police against bovine smuggling, 49 heads of bovine have so far been seized during the month and 9 bovine smugglers have been arrested and cases registered against them.
