| Omar lays stress on academic excellence with personality development | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Aug 3 : Declaring that present age was full of competition, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today emphasised on grooming students both academically and personality- wise to help them face challenges of life.
Mr Omar Abdullah said higher educational institutions should provide subjects of high marketability to the students to enable them get placements in different fields easily.
''Present age is the age of competition and technical advancement with scientific growth rules the roast globally. Our students should gain academic excellence in the fields of science and technology along with other sectors of present day utility'', he said, laying stress on personality development of young boys and girls to enable them shoulder the futuristic responsibilities and tackle challenges confidently.
Reviewing the progress of Islamic University of Science and Technology at a high level meeting, he chaired here the Chief Minister said universities should be seats of knowledge and academic excellence.
''The students passing out from these educational institutions should be role models in all aspects of life besides academic brilliance,'' he said.
The Chief Minister appreciated the progress of Islamic University expressing the hope that it would achieve new highs in coming years and grow into an institution of high reputation and academic radiance.
He assured all support of the government to the University for its progress and development.
''Imparting best education to the students making them versatile and qualified human resource to lead from the front should be the goal of higher educational institutions,'' he said, adding that after passing out they have to come across different vicissitudes and face wide-ranging challenges in the world outside the campuses, so they should be moulded educationally and mentally in such a manner that would help them to conquer the difficulties with calibre and capacity.
