GEJAC not to observe strike on Aug 5, 6 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 3: Government Employees Joint Action Committee (GEJAC) has decided not to observe strike on August 5 and 6, call for which has been given by Joint Action Committee (JAC) led by Khurshid Alam, Abdul Qayoom Wani and Ram Kumar. Addressing press conference here today, GEJAC said that need of the hour is to wage collective and decisive battle against the deaf and dumb government. It added that GEJAC which comprises of majority of the unions would not support and participate in the strike programme till a state level single platform of the employees is formed. They said that JCC raised by some Jammu based leaders recently does not enjoy mandate of the employees. Those who addressed the press conference included Jaswant Singh, Subhash Verma, Sushi Sudan, Pradeep Sharma, Suresh Sharma (PSU), Satish Sharma, P.S.Chib, Gafoor Dar, Ravi Singh Bhau, Farooq and Prem Singh Bawa. GEJAC clarified that amalgam is not concerned and responsible for any strike programme of August 5, 6 and firmly believes that unless common program is announced taking leaders of all the three regions into confidence, fight against the government cannot be decisive and in favour of the employees. On the contrary, another press conference was addressed by four major state level employee bodies namely Jammu and Kashmir Teacher Forum led by Ganesh Khajuria, All J&K Agriculture Employee Association led by Amrik Singh, Uttam Chand Sharma, J&K Central Non- Gazetted Electrical Employees Union led by Parshotam Sharma, Mohd.Aslam and Public Sector led by Joginder Paul, Amrik Singh Sasan. Employee leadership appealed to all the employees of the state to observe two days kaam chhorh hartal on Aug 5 and 6. They requested employees to assemble at press club Jammu to show their resentment against anti-employees attitude of the state government and appealed them to remain united. Other Leaders of JCC who were present included Gopal Singh , Satish Dutta, Naresh Sharma, V.N khajuria , Gopal Sharma, Zaffer ul Khan ,Rajesh Khajuria and Manan Bhat, Darshan Sharma and Suresh Sharma. In a emergency meeting of the JCC headed by Khurshid Alam, Abdul Qayoom Wani Ram Kumar and others, it has been decided that essential services supporting JCC under the banner of essential services employees forum J&K, headed by Dharminder Singh Bhargav coordinator of forum shall be exempted from strike. According to JCC, keeping in view outbreaks of diseases, shortage of Electricity and drinking water need of intensified sanitation and in the view of Ramzan and Amar Nath & Budha Amar Nath Yatra essential services like health, medical education PDD, PHE & Municipal Corporation are kept out of the preview of the employees strike. He said that we hope people will appreciate this gesture of employees and openly come forward in support of the genuine demands of the employees he called upon social organization and social forums to pressurize the government to accede to the agreed demands of the employees.
