| ‘Surrendered militants heckled opposition at Sopore, Shopian’ | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Aug 3: Hitting hard at the Chief Minister, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti expressed determination to intensify her agitation for civil liberties accused the Chief Minister of usuing surrendered militants to silence opposition members at Sopore and Shopian. She also accused the Chief Minister of hushing up the Sopore `custodial killing' case through his juvenile responses.
Mufti said that the surrendered militants were a mascot of NC rule and they have been putting them to varied use like election frauds and attacking opposition whether in Sopore or earlier in Shopian. "The killing of Nazim in custody raises genuine apprehensions of a similar role having been assigned to government gunmen to strike terror in Sopore as Nazim had reportedly been an eyewitness to Ashraf's murder earlier" Mehbooba said stressing to investigate this angle of the case as well. "The killers of Mohsin and Ashraf murdered day before Nazim need to be unmasked to remove doubts in public mind", she said.
Mahbooba said Omar was getting sadistic pleasure by tweeting endlessly instead of applying himself to the grave human rights crisis he has created in Kashmir. "Through his pranks, he is trying to divert public opinion away from the crime his police has committed, Mahbooba said.
Commenting on the removal of Sopore SP , the PDP chief said such tricks had been played in the past As well. In May 2009 Omar Abdullah formally announced the dismissal of a police official who was 'found involved' in custodial killing of a youngman in Aloochi Bagh Srinagar. Has he really been sacked, even though dismissal would only be acknowledgement of his criminal conduct in murdering a man and not its punishment, she wondered?
Similarly there is no progress in the investigation of triple murder in Anantanag a video graphed case in which three teenage boys were dragged out of homes and shot dead last year. Omar Abdullah had promised action against the guilty within 24 hours which is now more than a year back.
The PDP president said there was blood of numerous people including the 120 killed by forces last year, on the hands of this government and the more it is alienated from the people by its atrocities, misdeeds, miss governance, corruption and maladministration the more dependant it is becoming on its police and security set up.
Mahbooba expressed solidarity with the people of Sopore . "The PDP would not stoop to the level of the chief minister as it wants to continue and intensify its fight against the police raj that has been enforced by the government to sustain itself", she said. |
