| Private Gandola owners overcharging in Siraj area of Ramban | | | Early Times Report
BATOTE, Aug 4: With state government yet to construct a bridge, overcharging by private Gondola owners has made life miserable for poor people Saraj area.
It is pertinent to mention here that Saraj area has 25 Panchayats and due to rising levels of river, the area has lost connectivity with rest of the world. To redress this problem, certain private players came up with innovative idea of establishing Gondolas on river Chenab from Assar and one at Trungal.
According to locals, they have begun overcharging from the commuters. One the villager of the Saraj area namely Khushal Singh who belongs to Gagla Panchayat said that villagers are suffering due to alleged overcharging by private Gondola owners. Another local of the area, Kuldeep Singh Bandral said that the government is yet to operationalise Gandola service for the locals. It is notable here that MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar Bhagat also belongs to Saraj area and instead of that area is without bridges and roads.
