Omar reviews status of self help groups | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 4: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today directed the employment department to circulate the list of revalidated self-help groups to concerned departments so that their service is utilized for executing various development works.
Chairing a meeting here this afternoon to review the status of self help groups and the quantum of works being allotted to them for execution by various departments, the Chief Minister stressed on nurturing these groups so that the unemployed engineers associated with these earn their livelihood and extend expert service in execution of public works.
Meeting was attended by Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul, Minister of State for R&B, Javid Ahmad Dar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary Power, Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Commissioner Secretary PHE, Mehboob Iqbal, Commissioner Secretary Employment, Farooq Ahmad Peer and other senior officers.
Chief Minister directed for making the revalidation practice a yearly feature and also providing opportunities to newly passing out engineers to organizers such self help groups. Commissioner-Secretary employment gave district-wise details of the self help groups along with its membership revalidated up to 31.07. 2011.
