NDF imparts training to 24 children groups | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 4: National Development Foundation (NDF) imparted training to 24 children groups each in Rajouri and Poonch at conference hall Dak bungalow. About 175 children attended the training at Rajouri and 150 in Poonch. NDF organized the training as a part of child protection programme which organization is running in partnership with Save the Children. S.K.Kakru and Parvinder Singh were the main resource persons in both the events and oriented the children on Juvenile justice act 2007 of Jammu and Kashmir and role of children groups in addressing issues related to gender based violence in the villages. Chief functionary NDF Rajiv Khajuria also interacted with children groups at Rajouri and had a session on Child protection issues. He asked the children to report the cases of child right violations to the Child protection committees, Panchayats, and to the NDF staff and officials of Law enforcing agencies. He said that children have every right to be a part of decision making of all those issues which affect them directly and indirectly. Children apprised Khajuria of issues which included corporal punishment in schools and delay in disbursement of scholarships. He assured children to write to concerned officers for mitigation of these issues. Apart from this, 48 child friendly spaces are also functional in Rajouri and Poonch districts which provide livelihood support to hundred families of the children who are the victims of gender based violence or Physco-social stress. The over all objective of the programme is to strengthen child protection mechanism in the state.
