| ARTO Shopian attacked by mob | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Aug 4 (KNS): Assistant Regional Transport Shopian, Malik Tahir, was injured on Thursday when a mob allegedly attacked his office.
Police has taken cognizance of the matter and detained several people for questioning, reports said.
According to reports a delegation of people from Trang Shopian approached the ARTO in the morning and asked for fare rate list of Sumos.
“As soon the ARTO showed them the fare list, the people got angry and asked him to issue a written order and fix the fare from Trang to Shopian at Rs 10. When the ARTO tried to convince the people that it isn’t in his jurisdiction, the angry people started ransacking his office,” reports said.
When the ARTO tried to stop the people, he was also beaten due to which he sustained some injures, reports added.
Police rushed to the spot and detained some accused. Police has started investigating the matter. |
