Students offer bangles to Jammu’s elected representatives
Angry protests for CU-J continue

JAMMU, Aug 4:

Even as reports appearing in some section of the local media today suggested that former bureaucrat Sudhir S Bloeria’s name has been finalised for the Vice Chancellor of Central University-Jammu, the protests over the delay in establishment of CU-J and appointment of its first VC continue to rock the region for the 36th consecutive day.
Continuing their struggle for CU-J, activists of National Panther Students Union (NPSU) boycotted their classes in various Degree Colleges across Jammu region and during the protest demonstrations, students including females offered bangles (Choodis) to the MLAs, MPs, MLCs and Ministers of Jammu for their failure in raising the issue concerning to Jammuites at right time and right forum.
The colleges where the protest demonstrations were held and bangles were offered by students to leaders include Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar, SPMR College of Commerce, GGM Science College, MAM College, Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura, GDC Samba, GDC Ramnagar, GDC Udhampur and GDC Kathua.
The students of GCW Gandhi Nagar boycotted their classes under the leadership of Shalu, Preeti Chib, Neha Chib, Wazeefa Khan and Meena Kumari (NPSU leaders).
While addressing the gathering they said that the the MLAs, MPs, MLCs and Ministers of Jammu Region are of no use and should wear bangles and sit at home rather than misleading and looting the innocent public. They also appealed to the people of Jammu region to socially boycot these leaders and start campaign in their respective areas for not letting anybody to attend programmes or public meetings of such leaders who are of no use for the cause of Jammu region.
The students of SPMR College of Commerce, GGM Science College, GDC Paloura and MAM College boycotted their classes and held massive protest demonstration at their respective colleges. They also offered the bangles to the so called leaders of Jammu region. Female students of these colleges led today’s protest demonstration.
Speaking on the occasion Anjali Choudhary, Shreya Singh, Hardeep Kaur, Reetu Bisht, Sakshi Gupta and Seema Devi lambasted the so called leaders of the Jammu region who could not utter even a single word in favour of on going agitation and preferred to keep mum on the CUJ issue just to please and appease their ‘Akas’ sitting either in Kashmir or in New Delhi.
Other who were present in this protest were Partap Singh Jamwal (Provincial President NPSU), Sahil Choudhary (Provincial Sr. Vice President NPSU), Atul Soodan (Provincial Secretary NPSU), Vicky Singh Bhau, Abhay Sharma (Provincial Vice President NPSU), Lovely Singh Bhau, Vishal Sadotra, Lovkesh Gondhi, Mukesh Bakshi, Rahul Sharma etc.
The fourth phase of ongoing agitation for CUJ of indefinite relay hunger strike at Shaheedi Sthal, GGM Science College today entered the 11th day. Vishal Sharma, Varun Sharma, Akshay Sharma, and Sahil Sharma sat on fast.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (Youth wing) today told the people of Jammu region that once the CU-J issue is solved get ready for another movement for re-organisation of the state end the discrimination with Jammu region forever.
Addressing the media persons in a press conference organized at Party Head quarters at Gandhi Nagar here, Pushvinder Singh Manhas (Sr. Vice President Young Panthers and In-charge NPSU) said that if there is any reality in the news items published in some news papers regarding the appointment of one local as caretaker Vice Chancellor for Central University of Jammu (CU-J), Young Panthers and NPSU will welcome it and he said that this will be the huge victory of the student community of the Jammu region who were struggling for CU-J for more than 35 days under the banner of NPSU. He said that the main demand of the student community was the immediate start of the session of CU-J as already two valuable sessions of CUJ have been wasted by one reason or the other.
Manhas further said that YP & NPSU has decided not to conclude the ongoing agitation for CU-J and will continue their struggle until and unless a written order or notification regarding the appointment of VC for CU-J is issued by the concerned authorities.
He said that these types of news items published in some news papers can only be justified when authentication of such news is proved.
Continuing its protest against delay in the initiation of the functioning of CU-J and issue of appointment of its VC, Jammu Joint Students Federation today held a strong protest demonstration in Jammu University.
JJSF activates led by Jatinder Singh Chib(president) and Akhileshwar Jamwal (vice president). JJSF unit gathered at main gate and resented strongly against the negligence of the state as well as Central Government for not showing any keenness to make the CU-J functional. Students raised slogans against UPA led Congress Government in general and HRD ministry in particular which they alleged is continuously playing with the emotions of the student community of Jammu.
Addressing the students Jatinder Singh alleged that till now there is no confirmation of land, nothing about appointment of VC. This is injustice with the future ofstudents of Jammu. This is the issue of future of students and JJSF will not allow anybody to play with the careers of students.
He demanded that until the concerned authorities take any steps regarding this matter, JJSF will continue its struggle and appealed the student community to fight for the cause of Jammu.
Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) relay hunger strike entered its 11th day while sitting at Raja Jambulochan Memorial park Purani Mandi here.
The forum members who sat on hunger strike include J.C Dogra President Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Jagdish Sharma, General Secretary SD Sabha, Bodh Raj Sharma, Bhoomi Chand Sharma, Deepak, Prem Khajuria, president New Young Blood Association Ashok Verma and Vipul Shastri.

Speaking on the occasion Chairman JPPF Pavittar Singh Bhardwaj warned the administration not to add fuel to the fire by use of brutal force against the innocent youth of schools and colleges who are agitating in a democratic way to achieve what the students of whole the country including Kashmir province have since availed of the last two semesters.
