CM calls for expediting pace of work on various PMRP projects | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 4: Reviewing progress on various projects being implemented under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme (PMRP), Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday asked the implementing agencies to upgrade the pace of work and expedite the completion within the earmarked timeline. Chief Minister said that mega projects in the sectors of power, road communication, health and higher education should receive added attention so that the benefits of these accrue to people as early as possible. Laying stress on monitoring of physical and financial aspects of the projects under execution in PMRP, the Chief Minister asked the Central Agencies executing the works to accelerate the pace on works these agencies are implementing so that the targets are achieved as per time frame. Chief Minister took sector-wise appraisal of the progress and gave directions wherever required for fast tracking the works. He said the projects under PMRP are greatly related to the economic progress and public service infrastructure development, as such have direct bearing on the welfare and upliftment of people. He emphasized the need for completing these projects with a missionary zeal. Various Administrative Secretaries presented details of the achievements made under PMRP through PowerPoint presentation and detailed the measures in place for completion of the schemes within the prescribed timeline. Meeting was told that out of the total outlay of Rs. 33177 crores under PMRP over Rs. 11065 crores have been spent so far in both centre and state sectors. The works estimating Rs. 6199 crores are being executed by state agencies in the state sector. Of this amount, Rs. 4609 crores have been so far expended. State agencies are also executing central projects costing Rs. 6341 crores. An expenditure of over Rs. 1624 crores have been incurred so far on these works. Central Agencies are executing works worth Rs. 20636 crores and they have so far completed the works of the order of Rs. 5171 crores. Taking brief on power projects, Chief Minister was informed that under the scheme strengthening of T&D network over Rs. 939.91 crores have been incurred so far completing 31 schemes which include construction of 14 Grid Stations. It was stated that under RGGVY Rs. 519 crores stand spent so far. Meeting was attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul, Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, Principal Secretary Agriculture, Iqbal Khandey, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Principal Secretary Industries, Umang Narula, Principal Secretary Home, B. R. Sharma, Commissioner Secretary Housing, Suresh Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Power, Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Tanveer Jahan, Commissioner Secretary Health, G. A. Peer, Commissioner Secretary Forests, Shantmanu and senior officers from various central departments and BRO besides State officers.
