No takers for Cross L.O.C travel
8/4/2011 11:38:45 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 4: Cross L.O.C travel from Indian side of Kashmir has totally failed. During third consecutive week no Kashmiri has bothered to travel other side of the L.O.C. according to sources there is no enthusiasm among the Kashmiri masses for such travels.
Recently during Indo Pak foreign ministers level dialogue some Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) were announced one of them was to strengthen already announced Cross L.O.C travel between people of either sides of line of control. It is evident from the disinterest shown by Kashmiris that there are no takers for such CBMs. People realise that Kashmiris have no love lost to travel to POK. Going by the facts Kashmirs have no near relations in occupied Kashmir, if there are such relationships they are between people residing along Jammu region of the state. By not showing any interest in travelling other side of the loc they have signaled their disinterest in such unnecessary travels. They have seen the plight of the people residing in the occupied areas under Pakistan. People of the state of Jammu and Kashmir are far better in all spheres of life be it governance, education , day to day necessities of life viz drinking water, electricity ,roads etc.Recently a study conducted in POK has revealed that the number of educational institutions in that part of Kashmir is far less than that in J&K. While POK has only one university in comparision to 11 universities in J&K. According to sources this fact was also admitted by Vice Chancellor of POK university.
It seems that government of India is unnecessarily wasting its time in conducting such types of exercises which has no meaning for common Jammu and Kashmir people. This is a clear lesson for both countries not to waste its time in unnecessary parleys. If they are really interested to address the issue they must work to eradicate the demon of terrorism from the subcontinent and strive energy for development of the region giving stress on eradication of poverty.
Jammu and Kashmir has remained bone of contention for Pak rulers. Despite accession of the state with India, the Pakistan has always tried to reverse the legal position of J&K by sheer deceit. Be it 1947 Kabailee raid or 1965 and 1971 wars and after defeat in regular wars restored to proxy war by instigating the people. This proxy war has not done any good to the people of the state but has now turned against its creator, the Pakistan. Now after its failure on international front and its disastrous internal conflicts, Pakistan has come forward for talks. People of the state are eagerly awaiting the proper response of Pak rulers so that these talks are not unnecessarily wasted for such CBMs.
