JU under Sahni becomes hub of break-Jammu activities | Dixon Plan | | Neha EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 4: No one in Jammu had ever thought that the University of Jammu would become a hub of break-Jammu province activities, but it has happened. It has happened under Jammu University Vice-Chancellor, Varun Sahni. The case in point is what happened in the Jammu University on August 1 under the very nose of the authorities in the university. What happened on Monday on the Jammu University campus? The Chenab Valley People's Association (CVPA) held its first general body meeting in which "hundreds of activists participated." The general meeting was followed by the election of office-bearers of the CVPA. The election was followed by press conference on the university campus itself. The speeches made by the CVPA on the university campus were divisive by any yardstick and the whole event was organized in the campus to vitiate the atmosphere in Jammu province. The very fact that the CVPA emphasized the need for a separate arrangement for the so-called Chenab Valley comprising "Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts" and that, too, on the Jammu University campus was an indication that the protagonists of Greater Kashmir consisting of Kashmir Valley and the Muslim-majority areas of Jammu province have become quite active and that there are elements in the university establishment who have been overtly and covertly encouraging those who have been trying their level best to break-Jammu or to divide Jammu province along the Chenab River on purely communal lines. They are also very close to Sheikh Abdul Rehman, president of the state unit of the Samajwadi Party. It's not a secret. It is also not a secret that one of them is a PDP office-bearer - PDP that stands for Musharraf's four-point Kashmir formula that also suggests division of the state into seven regions. |
