BJP threatens agitation, fixes Aug 25 deadline for making CU functional | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 5: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set the final deadline of August 25 for central and state government’s to make Central University in Jammu functional. In a handout issued here today, the party has said that it would be compelled to launch an all out offensive on the issue. The decision was taken at the party’s core group meeting chaired by state president Shamsher Singh Manhas which was attended by National Executive Member Dr. Nirmal Singh, Chief Spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma (MLA) and State General Secretary Sat Sharma (C.A.). Shamsher Singh Manhas said that the party has decided to fix August 25 as last deadline because beyond that there will be an increasing possibility of loss of one more semester and session for the students. He also accused UPA at Centre and NC-Congress coalition in the state of deliberately trying to discriminate with Jammu region to appease Kashmir-centric elements in the valley where central university is about to start its second session. He further assured that BJP has always stood for the just cause of Jammu and therefore will continue to offer full, unconditional and all kind of support to all the groups and parties in their struggle for the cause of Central University in Jammu. Briefing about the meeting, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that BJP’s national leadership is closely following the events relating to Central University in Jammu and there was a unanimous view that the party cannot allow the issue of Central University to snowball into a major conflict.
