CGPWA accorded nomination to SCOVA | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 25: Central government pensioners’ welfare association (CGPWA) has been accorded nomination to standing committee of voluntary agencies (SCOVA) by Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. For establishment of mechanism for consultation with, or representation by the members of the Central Pensioners’ Voluntary Organizations/NGOs; a standing committee of voluntary agencies (SCOVA) was set up in 1986 to mobilize voluntary efforts to supplement government action. It is a useful forum for holding consultation with the stakeholders, i.e., the pensioners through their Associations. It provides the associations opportunity for raising their problems directly before the concerned ministries, as the officials of these ministries are also present in the meeting. It also provides valuable feedback to the government for effective implementation of the programmes and gives direction for the future course of action. It has maintained a healthy tradition of constructive discussion. Nomination of CGPWA, representing central government pensioners of Jammu and Kashmir to this high power committee constituted by the government for the welfare of pensioners is a commendable distinction for the 16 year old Organization. CGPWA is nominated to SCOVA for the term 2011-2012 among 14 other Central Pensioners’ Associations chosen from the entire country. Nomination of the association to the apex body SCOVA also speaks high of the contributions by CGPWA towards the welfare and service to the civil society in general and the pensioners and their families, in particular.
