CAPD minister calls for intensifying market checking | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 5: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Qamar Ali Akhoon said that the government has released 56440 mts of food grains for BPL families of the State, saying that this allocation will be provided to the families for the eight months from the current month. This was stated by the Minister while reviewing the stock and supply position of the foodgrains in the Valley at an officers meeting held here today. Minister of State for CA&PD, and Transport Shabir Ahmed Khan was also present in the meeting. During the discussion the Director CA&PD, Kashmir informed that the buffer stocking of foodgrains are available in the stocks of the department to cater the need of the consumers of the Valley. He also said that the keeping in view of the month of Ramzan and Id-ul-Fitr adequate foodgrains have been dispatched to the district headquarters. He informed 9,69,749 qtls of foodgrains were distributed to the consumers of Valley during the first quarter of the current financial year. Meeting was informed that over 3600 qtls of foodgrains were provided to 6718 nomadic families during June and July last. |
