| NSF to launch campaign against Jammu University VC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, August 5: The students and scholars of Jammu University under the banner of National Secular Forum (NSF) held demonstration in the office of Dean Students Welfare Prof N K Tripathi. They were protesting against the dictatorial attitude of Vice Chancellor Professor Varun Sahni who is trying to suppress the voice of students. Leading the demonstration, NSF president Vikas Sharma flayed the University administration for not paying heed towards the issue of students and scholars who are protesting since long for eradication of corruption. They raised high pitch slogans against the University administration besides Chancellor and Pro Chancellor. Sharma said, "Vice Chancellor in order to appease the Chancellor and the Pro Chancellor for securing extension issuing threats to students and scholars for not burning their effigies on the campus. This is undemocratic and unacceptable." “ The Vice Chancellor recently told media that Student Union election would not be held in the campus as the atmosphere is not conducive right now but we want to ask that what is wrong in that”, he asked. Sharma announced that soon students and scholars would launch a campaign "Varun Sahni Go Back" and appealed the State Government to send him back and not to give him extension even for a day. Among those who were present in the protest included Ravi Choudhary, Parshotam Singh, Joginder Thakur, Manjit Singh, Anil Sharma, Sanjay Thakur, Zulfkar, Vicky, Manu, Ramneek Kumar and others.
