| PNB staff observes strike across Jammu | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 5: Punjab national bank officer's association (PNBOA) observed strike in the branches of PNB throughout the state of Jammu and Kashmir on the nationwide call of strike.
Call was given by united forum of bank unions comprising of all nine major unions of officers and workman staff in banking industry. A detailed agitational programme was circulated before today’s strike, where in the bank staff is opposing recommendations of khandelwal committee, outsourcing banking activities, merger of banks, privatization of banks, demanded regulated working hours for officers, five days week and improvement in pension as per central government pension scheme.
Employees said that they oppose reduction of government equity in public sector banks, availing of World Bank loans to capitalize public sector banks and licenses to industrial houses to open private banks. They demanded to settle demands of employees of regional rural banks, cooperative banks and bank daily deposit collectors. Association appealed its members to remain prepared for a sustained agitation if the demands are not met
