Early Times Report JAMMU, August 5: Under instructions of S C Sawhney Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Jammu, the Chief Enforcement Officer and subordinate staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith police force from the Gandhi Nagar Police station and from District police lines demolished two constructions which had been constructed by encroaching upon government land at Gandhi Nagar Extension Jammu near Nallaha where the park is being developed for the welfare of the residents of the area. Besides this, while continuing the anti – encroachment drive to clear the footpaths / pavements parts of roadsides the team undertook an extensive drive in the areas of Gurudwara Sunder Singh Road, Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazar, Residency Road, Vir Marg, Hari Market, Ranbir Market etc and seized 12 truck loads of material, goods , articles like Gen Set, gas cylinder, by-cycles, fans, tubs, tyres, blankets, garments, confectionary items, hosiery items, counters, chairs, benches, utensils, stools, which were kept by the shopkeepers / vendors by encroaching upon footpaths, pavements or road sides. The team also demolished 15 encroachments found erected upon footpaths / pavements and seized 3 stationary rehries which were causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and also creating obstruction in the free movement of vehicular traffic. In another move, while continuing the drive against the adulteration of milk the Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith field staff visited the areas of Gandhi Nagar, Jewel Area, Canal Road, Talab Tillo, Panjtirthi, Pacca Danga, etc. During the drive 109 milk cans were checked, out of which 2 milk cans which were sub-standard quality, not fit for human consumption were destroyed on spot. The team has also lifted the 18 stray animals from the areas of Amphalla, Panjtirthi, Kachi Chawani, Gumat, New Plot, Janipur Colony, Talab Tillo, Bhagwati Nagar, Narwal, Channi, Satwari, Nai Basti, Nanak Nagar etc., and impounded the stray animals in Municipal Cattle Pound. A total fine of Rs. 10050.00 was charged from the milk vendors and owners of the stray animals on spot.
