`Street children have rights’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, August-06 (JNF):- District Legal Service Authority Ramban has organized a seminar on PNDT Act and Colloquia on rights of Street Children under the Chairmanship of Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Ms Bala Jyoti. Judicial officers, Bar Members, Prosecuting Officers, Police Officers, Litigants and general public actively participated. Principal Sessions Judge stressed on the attitudinal change towards female foeticide and apprized about the legal aspects of the PNDT Act. She further pointed out that she was pained to see whenever there is gender discrimination particularly on education and health sector. The learned judge urged all the concerned to work with Zeal and sensitivity while dealing with issues of female foeticide and other hazards to their growth. She emphasized on the motto “save the girl child” and even appealed to the Social welfare agencies to work dedicatedly while dealing with their issues as females particularly at the gross root level are still bleeding for justice. Earlier Colloquia was also organized for Street Children. While celebrating year of “Rights of Child” Principal Sessions Judge Ramban focused on the Compulsory Right of Education particularly for Street & Marginalized Children of the society, their condition is pitiable and deserves compassion and moral upliftment. The entire programme was a huge success. On this Occasion CJM Ramban Mrs. Kusoom Pandita, Munsiff Ramban Sh. Om Parkash Bhagat Bar President Sh. A R Mushtaq also spoke.JNF
