Srinagar, Nov 30
National Conference President Omar Abdullah has asked PDP President Mehbooba Mufti to prove charges leveled by her against him, failing which he will file a defamation suit against her in the court of law.
Addressing a party convention Omar said that Mehbooba should come out with a hard evidence to prove the allegations in which she has accused him of pleading for the hand over of Abdullah family's assets in Lahore. Saying that if Mehbooba Mufti did not participate with him in PUGWASH Conference in Islamabad last, how come she is supposed to know the details of his (Omar’s) one-on one meeting with Pakistan President Parvez Musharaff. He also asked Mehbooba to prove her allegation where in she has said that Omer Abdullah sought an apology for the political blunders committed by his grand father late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah in distant past.
Launching a counter offensive on PDP top brass, Omar quoted RJD President and Union Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav as saying "I as Chief Minister would have arrested the then BJP President L.K.Advani during his Rath Yatra, but Mufti Mohd Sayeed, the then Home Minister stopped me from arresting Advani". He also demanded full scale investigation to probe the killing of Divisional Commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in South Kashmir just two days back.
Touching upon the issue of return of militants from the other side of line of control (LoC) to this part of the state, Omer alleged that militants asked to cross over to this side are made to surrender, but steps are not being taken for their rehabilitation which would help them to carry on their normal life. He promised that if Mehbooba Mufti gives the full description of self rule, he will quite his politics along with his father Farooq Abdullah, the NC patron.
