| Kanav, Komal, Adhiti among win gold in judo | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, August 06: Young judokas, Kanav Gupta, Komal Pathak and Adhiti Sharma were among gold medal winners on the opening day of the two-day 2nd Anil Basotra Memorial (open) Judo Championship, organised by senior players under the aegis of J&K Judo Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
While Kanav clinched gold in under-12 boys plus 25 kg weight group, Komal bagged first place in below 20 kg in under-10 category. Similarly, Adhiti won gold in below 25 kg weight group in under-10 year.
The inaugural day witnessed competition in sub-junior category of both boys and girls sections. Today’s bouts were officiated by Suraj Bhan, Arshi Nad, Vikas Dogra, Ritika, Rameshwar Singh, Jugal Kishore, Shiv, Rohit Sadhotra, Varinder and Bansi Lal.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Rita Basotra wife of Anil Basotra, who was chest guest in the inaugural function. She expressed her thanks to the senior players and J&K Judo Association for holding competition in memory of her husband.
Prominent among others present were general secretary of the Association, R C Thakur, Virender Dogra, Rameshwar Singh, Rohit Sadhotra, Suraj Sharma, Vikas Gupta, Shiv Kumar, Shuna, Balbir Singh, Rajinder Singh, Ashutosh Sharma, Kuldeep Singh, Suraj Sharma, Vishal Jamwal, Sanjay Khajuria, Rajesh Sumbria and Rajesh Verma.

BOYS: Under-12 year: Plus 25 kg: Kanav Gupta, Ist; Pawan Deep Singh, 2nd; Sumed Singh and Bilal Ahmed, joint third. Under 10-year: Kanav Sharma, Ist; Munish Sharma, 2nd, Sohan Gupta and Soket Sharma, joint third. 25 kg: Kavish Gupta, Ist; Diwankar Singh, 2nd; Rishav Slathia and Manshit, joint third. 12-13 year: Plus 30 kg: Sumit Kumar, Ist; Nikhil Singh, 2nd; Shubham Sharma and Rashid Ali, joint third.
GIRLS: Under 10-year: Below 20 kg: Komal Pathak, Ist; Falgini, 2nd; Vasudha Gupta and Tanvi Pangotra, joint third. Below 25 kg: Adhiti Sharma, Ist; Bhumika Mahajan, 2nd; Mehak Sharma and Shakshi Sharma, joint third. 12-13 year: Plus 35 kg: Rumati, Ist; Aruhi, 2nd; Arpita Puri and Niharika, joint third. Plus 40 kg: Shikha Pav, Ist; Srishit, 2nd; Himanshi and Mehak Pandita, joint third.
