JAMMU, Aug 6:

The students of Bishnah, Jourian, Akhnoor, and Suchetgarh have expressed anguish against the prevailing corruption in the Jammu University by torching the effigy of Chancellor and Governor N N Vohra.
Recently, the JU Vice Chancellor Prof Varun Sahni had threatened students of dire consequences against the burning of effigy of Vohra on the campus. Anguished over his threat to students of Suchetgarh, Jourian, Akhnoor and Bishnah under the banner of National Secular Forum (NSF) burnt effigies of Vohra and dared the Vice Chancellor to stop them from doing so.
The students raised slogans against the Chancellor, the Pro Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor for their failure in arresting the rampant corruption in the University. They demanded Vigilance Probe against the corruption being done by Registrar Dr P S Pathania. Students vow to continue the struggle till their demand is met. Shortly, they will undertake "Varun Sahni Go Back" campaign. Under this, the effigy of
Chancellor, Pro Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor would be burnt in all the colleges of Jammu Province by the activists of NSF. They would ask the State Government not to give even one day extension to Varun Sahni on the post of Vice Chancellor.
According to them, Sahni has been a complete failure. He has pulled down University to new depths and bankruptcy. He must be removed from the position at an earliest. Sahni was also warned against issuing threats to the students. Meanwhile, NSF president Vikas Sharma has announced that schedule of "Varun Sahni Go Back" campaign will be announced shortly. He appealed all the student organizations to join the campaign.
