GCW Parade organises friendly cricket match | Teachers’ XI beats Non-teaching staff | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 6: Govt College for Women (GCW), Parade organized one day friendly cricket match between teaching staff XI and non-teaching staff XI today in the college ground. Principal Dr Kiran Bakshi was the chief guest. Winning the toss, Non-teaching XI elected to bat first and scored 102 runs in stipulated 15 overs. In reply, teaching staff had a shaky start losing four of its batsmen for just 2 runs. However, a 55 run partnership between Prof Parveen Singh and Prof Yashpal helped the Teachers’ XI eleven to stabilize the innings and eventually winning the match with the last ball to spare. Prof Yashpal top scored with 39 while Prof Praveen Singh and Prof Devinder Singh were other main contributors, who had 35 and 25 runs respectively against their names. Prof Yashpal was declared man of the match.
