Employees observe complete strike on day 2, work affected

JAMMU, Aug 6:
The state government employees today observed complete strike for the second consecutive day under the banner of Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), a conglomerate of over 50 different unions, demanding grant of 6th pay commission arrears and enhancement of retirement age to 60.
The second day of the pen down strike again paralysed the working of administration.
“Two-day long strike of J&K employees including government offices, PSUs and corporations has paralyzed the state administration," said Ram Kumar, senior leader of Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of J&K government employees.
The strike is in protest against the state government’s lop-sided, non-serious and dilly delaying tactics of not implementing agreed demands of grant of 6th pay commission arrears, increase in retirement age from 58 to 60 years besides others, Kumar said.
There are over 4.5 lakh government employees apart from employees of various corporations, PSUs and autonomous bodies in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the reports received from various parts of state including Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Baderwah, Reasi Kishtwar, Samba, Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, strike was held amid dharnas and protest demonstrations, JCC said.
In Jammu city, thousands of employees of different departments assembled near Exhibition Ground and were addressed by Ram Kumar, Amrik Singh, Deva Nand Gill, Balwan Singh Jamwal, Ganesh Khajuria, Kulwant Singh, Babu Hussain Malik, Joginder Pal, Balvinder Singh, Purshotam Sharma, Shahid Hussain, Uttam Chand, Bharat Bhushan, Amrik Singh Sasan, Dharminder Singh, Madan Sangral, Goptal Singh, Balbir Rahi, Darshan Mangotra, Rajinder Gupta, Ranjit Singh, Farooz Ali Khan, Koushal Kumari, Yashpal Sharma, Abdul Rashid.
In Srinagar, thousands of striking employees assembled and held massive rally which was addressed by Abdul Qyoom Wani, Khurshid Alam, Rafiq Khaniyari, Farooz Trali, Muntizer Mohi din, Khurshid Kute, Fiza Shabnum, Fiaz Andrabi, Javed Akhoon, Sayeda Ladakhi, Gazi Abdul Aziz, Shabir Ahmed Langu, Zulkar Nain Bhat.
The speakers condemned the governmetn for non-implementation of the agreement towards the agreed demands. The JCC there was no alternative before the employees but to come on the roads for redressal and the issue which has not fulfilled besides the agreed demands as per commitment of cabinet sub-committee.
The messages received from various Tehsils and districts of Jammu, Kashmir and Leh-Ladakh that the striking employees held rallies and demonstrations throughout the State.
While addressing the protesting employees, the JCC leaders of respective districts strongly condemned the government for not conceding their just and genuine demands.
JCC congratulated all sections of the government and public sector employees who made the strike programme a grand success and appeals the employees to hold rallies and demonstration in their respective district headquarters throughout the State.
