Despite rains, pilgrims leaves for holy Amarnath cave from Srinagar | 281 pilgrims leave for Amarnath in 39th batch from Jammu | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU /SRINAGAR: (12:00 IST) The 39th batch of pilgrims comprising 281 people today left for the Amarnath yatra from here amid tight security, police said, while despite rains, fresh batches of pilgrims left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps this morning for the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. As many as 164 men, 56 women, 6 children and 55 seers left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp early this morning in a cavalcade of 10 vehicles for the 13,500-feet-high cave shrine situated in the Himalayas in south Kashmir. With today’s batch, as many as 78,718 pilgrims have left Jammu in 39 batches for their onward journey to the cave shrine. Meanwhile, the sixth batch comprising 271 pilgrims today left from here for the Buddha Amarnath shrine in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district. The batch comprising 179 men, 83 women and nine children left in a fleet of six vehicles from the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar around 6 AM, police said. About 6.40 lakh pilgrims have visited the cave shrine since the commencement of the 46-day-long pilgrimage from June 29. Yatra officials said there was intermittent rains during the night in the entire belt. However, despite rains 515 pilgrims today left Baltal for the cave shrine from shortest route while details about the number of yatris who left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp was not available, they said. The annual yatra will conclude on August 13, the Rakshabandan day. Meanwhile, as per the Meteorological Department’s weather forecast from today to August 10, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy and there is a possibility of light rain or thundershowers today and August 10, rain on August 8 and rain or thundershower in the Kashmir Division. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, (SASB) R K Goyal has once again advised all those who intend to visit the Holy Cave to ascertain the obtaining weather conditions in the Yatra area before embarking on the pilgrimage. The details of weather forecast are available on the website of the Indian Meteorological Department, at (www.Amssdelhi.Gov.In). The CEO also urged all intending pilgrims to have themselves medically examined and no one with an orthopedic problem, chest or lung ailment or any cardiac deficiency should venture to undertake the arduous Yatra, involving trekking upto 14,000 feet.
