| Kapoor appointed as member PNDT Act. | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu August 7:- International fame Advocate Rohit Kapoor, an eminent advocate And Member Of J & K Juvenile Welfare Board has been appointed as member of advisory committee on Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique Act XXXI OF 2002 dated 21st April, 2002. This Act has been brought into force with the object to prohibit sex determination before or after conception and for regulation of pre natal diagnostic technique for the purpose of detecting genetic abnormalities or metabolic Disorders chromosomal abnormalities etc.This act empowers the advisory committee to visit the centers, laboratories and clinics with a view to check compliance of the provision of the act. It can also recommend for cancellation of registration or prosecution against a laboratory or a clinic. The authority has been directed to create public awareness against the practice of pre conception sex selection or parental determination of sex. Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr.Sanjeev Verma is the chairman and its member include Dr. Baldev Sharma the Chief Medical Officer Jammu.
