Rain in Kashmir likely during next 3 days

Srinagar: As per the Meteorological Department’s weather forecast for 8th to 12th August
there is a possibility of light rain and thundershowers on 8th, 10th and 12th August, moderate
rain & thundershowers on 9th August, and the sky is expected to remain generally cloudy on
11th August, 2011, in the Kashmir Division.

R. K. Goyal, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, has once again
advised all those who intend to visit the Holy Cave of Amarnath to ascertain the obtaining
weather conditions in the Yatra area before embarking on the pilgrimage.

The CEO also urged all intending pilgrims to have them medically examined and no one with
an orthopedic problem, chest or lung ailment or any cardiac deficiency should venture to
undertake the arduous Yatra, involving trekking upto 14,000 feet.

Meanwhile, the movement of Yatris along both the Yatra routes was interrupted due to rains
at several places. (AIP)
