Poonch, Aug 7: Budha Amarnath Yatra going on in border district Poonch is once again under threat following slipping of a militant Commander from Surankote area of the district following which intelligence agencies have given an alert to the security forces to remain vigilant as ultras may target the Yatra.
Although security has been intensified in Surankote area after presence of ultras, a Lashkar-i-Toiba Commander has been slipped from Hari area and intelligence sources have given alert to the security agencies to remain vigilant during the Budha Amarnath Yatra which may be on the target of these ultras.
Sources said that on the opening day of Budha Amarnath Yatra, a huge cache of arms and RDX was recovered from Mandi belt the place where Budha Amarnath Yatra is going on. But security agencies had intensified their vigil. However following slipping of an ultra Commander from Hari area of Surankote, intelligence sources have reportedly given alert to the security forces to remain vigilant as ultras might target Budha Amarnath Yatra.
Sources said that the agencies have become alert after an encounter was initiated in Hari Surankote were two ultras commanders were hiding for the last many days. Initiated on Saturday evening, the encounter was terminated at about 3 PM on Sunday during which army and police have eliminated a Lashkar-i- Toiba District Commander Abu Hamza of Pakistan. Sources however said that another commander has been slipped from the area.
A senior police officer has admitted that a militant commander has escaped from Hari area which is close to Mandi area where Budha Amarnath Yatra is going on for the last 5 days. Although police officer said that security has been put on high alert, ultras attack on the Yatra can not be ruled out. "We will try to nab this escaped militant", police said.
It is pertinent to mention here that few days before starting of this yatra, 3 militants had entered a Surankote temple and escaped in the morning before army laid the cordon of the temple area.
