Fissures in suspended BJP MLA's camp | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug7 : Though the four suspended BJP MLAs today reiterated that all six MLAs who were suspended from party for cross voting in legislative council elections on April 14 in favour of coalition candidates by defying party whip. The two suspended MLAS were conspicuous by their absence in today's press conference. The four party MLAs Jagdish Raj Sapolia, Prof Garu Ram, Durga Dass and Bharat Bhushan today urged the BJP High Command at a press conference not to delay decision on their fate and reiterated their loyalty in the leadership of Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta who has been expelled from the party. They said Prof Gupta is the leader of all six suspended MLAs and BJP High Command should quicken its decision as their fate is hanging in balance over last four months. They said that they still consider themselves part of BJP and it is upto the Party High Command to take the decision as all of them were the dedicated soldiers of the party. They also denied that Ashok Khajuria was the chief whip of the party saying as per Parliamentary procedures the chief whip is elected by legislative party while in case of Mr. Khajuria he was appointed by state president Shamsher Singh Manhas. This allegation was out rightly rejected by Manhas who said if this was the case then why these MLAs has signed the whip issued by Mr. Khajuria. Meanwhile BJP national general secretary JP Nada who was on one day's visit to Jammu said that decision on the fate of suspended MLAs will be taken by party's disciplinary committee and it will come soon. However according to sources there are fissures in the group as all six suspended MLAs are not ready to take cudgels with Party High Command. Sources said one of the six MLAs had recently visited New Delhi and pleaded before the party High Command that he may not be punished with expulsion from party being its dedicated soldier and in view of his past loyalty. Sources said seeing this change of behavior among some suspended MLAs the High Command had decided to adopt the go slow policy in the remaining six MLAs case after expulsion of Prof Gupta. |
