Councilors revolt against BMC president, seek fresh election
12/1/2006 12:15:18 AM

DODA, NOV 30
Differences in the Municipality Committee Bhaderwah came to surface today when eight members of the Committee openly revolted against the present President Javed Azad and sought fresh elections for the post of President.
In a joint press conference these members announced withdrawal of support to the President and have asked Director Local bodies, Election Commissioner, Chief Electoral officer, DDC Doda, SDM Bhadarwah, and Commissioner Secretary HUD to issue no confidence motion against the president BMC and conduct fresh elections. They alleged that the President has been working against the norms and rules of the Committee and has been indulging in favoritism and nepotism.
Those councilors who have revolted against Azad include councilors from Ward Number 3,4,5,7,9,10,12 and 13. Those who spoke to the pressmen were Abdul Ganai, Vijay Kumar, Gazala Bashir.
This decision of the councilors has caused embarrassment for the ruling congress party. Apprehending pressure from the high command to withdraw this decision, the councilors are reported to have gone underground and a search has been launched to trace their whereabouts. The sources said the party high command might be forced to expel these members for violating the party norms if they fail to withdraw their decision.
Javed Azad president of BMC when contacted denied all the charges of ward members that he enjoyed the confidence of all the councilors .He said some people are making false propaganda against him for political reasons and dared that if fresh elections are held he would certainly contest it.
