Cops catching chain snatchers to be rewarded | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 8: In the backdrop of rising incidents of snatching here, Jammu police has introduced a new 'mantra' of tightening noose around snatchers. In a bid to curb the menace, Jammu Police has asked its men to arrest the snatchers and get rewarded. "As the incidents of chain snatching have increased in this winter capital, we have adopted a new technique of keeping our men on toes by announcing DGP medal and a cash prize for nabbing snatchers," police sources added. They said that policemen on duty at check points and patrolling in flying squads besides those in police posts and police stations have been asked to remain vigilant and keep check on miscreants. "Name of police personnel arresting chain snatcher would be recommended for DGP’s medal. Cash prize of Rs 5000 would also be given," sources said. They further maintained that the names would be recommended by Senior Superintendent of Police. In the past two months, about two dozen cases of snatching were reported in areas of Roop Nagar, Sarwal, Shastri Nagar, Janipur and Kunjwani.
